Here’s how the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 is different from 2024

For the 2025 model year, the GMC Sierra 1500 has made Cruise Control standard across the gasoline-powered lineup, which was not the case in 2024. A brake controller now comes standard on rear-wheel drive versions of the SLE, Elevation and SLT models. New for 2025, an available Universal Vehicle module control box is offered for adding accessories like lights and winches. The AT4 now comes with standard 20-inch machined wheels with carbon gray metal accents, while 18-inch wheels with dark painted pockets are now optional.

The GMC Sierra 1500 for 2025 also offers available 22-inch bright split-spoke wheels and the Pro Crew Cab with four-wheel drive is now the only model available with FlexFuel compatibility. The versatile GMC MultiPro tailgate is an optional upgrade for the SLE rear-wheel drive and Elevation trim levels. The AT4 now offers standard all-terrain black wall tires and available Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires. The AT4, AT4X, Denali, and Denali Ultimate trims now offer an available spray-on bedliner.

Engines and performance

The 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 offers Stow, OH buyers a choice of four engines. The fireworks start with a 2.7-liter TurboMax four-cylinder engine that develops 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. After that is a 6.2-liter V8 that’s good for 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The most potent option is the Duramax® 3.0-liter turbodiesel six-cylinder engine that can deploy 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.

Towing and payload capacity

The 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 offers Tallmadge, OH drivers a towing package with both V8 and turbodiesel powertrains. The Duramax® turbodiesel has the highest towing capacity, rated at 13,200 pounds for rear-wheel drive models and 13,000 pounds with four-wheel drive. The turbocharged four-cylinder engine can tow up to 9500 pounds with rear-wheel drive and 9200 pounds with four-wheel drive. Payload capacities continue as they were in 2024. The four-cylinder engine with rear-wheel drive has a max payload of 2240 pounds and 2120 pounds with four-wheel drive. The 6.2 liter V8 with four wheel drive has the lowest payload, coming in at 1,820 pounds.
